Sharks of Kuwait, Al-Jazeera (Witness)

We all know that Kuwait used to rely on pearl diving and fishing for a living. Since the discovery of oil and the mass exportation of oil, our history at sea seems to be lost - or atleast we stopped caring about it.

I stumbled onto this Al-Jazeera piece about the Sharks of Kuwait. A few of the true traditional Pearl-Divers of Kuwait's past were interviewed. This small documentary pretty much highlights how the Arabian Gulf has suffered due to pollution and excessive fishing. The lack of sharks in our Gulf is not just appalling but dangerous. It seems that our ecosystem is suffering from all aspects.

This documentary is a short one, it's about 20 minutes. Click the jump below to open this blog post and watch this emotional, yet educational short length documentary.
